Not because I failed. It was just too snowy to take the test, they legally couldn't give it. I'll reschedule it for soon. The weather was pretty bad. I had my phone mounted to the windshield and recorded part of my drive home:

Yeah, I went out right after you did and wondered if they'd let you take it. Oh, well, I don't doubt you'll do fine on it.

Also, on my drive the butt end of the Fiat swung out a couple times. I haven't had winter oppo since I got rid of the Ranger. I miss winter oppo.

Nah, You're young. Get something fun before you start rapidly reproducing to the point where you need a minivan.

Tell me, What kind of car are you looking for?

I did take my refresher lesson though. My teacher says Im ready for the test in good weather conditions. I overthought everything on the drive and braking was never before the crosswalk, we also never went over 25mph. It didnt help that the 2005 sonata I drove had no ABS, that took alot of getting used to.

That sucks. But why don't the do the test in the snow? Chances are being in Colorado, you are going to have to drive in the snow, so if you can pass the test in the snow...

It literally took me 6 months from the time I was supposed to take the test to actually take the test. It snowed feet 4 out of the 5 times I was supposed to go and they were so backed up because of that. It was a nightmare.

4cyl, I6, V6 wagon, pickup, hatch, Preferably over 15 years old (I like old cars), Not german, not FWD (so 4wd/rwd), Under 100k miles.

I was super nervous before I took my test... that is, until I noticed that the instructor had my finished license on his test clipboard. I realized that the only way I would be failed would be to really screw up. It put me at ease and everything went well.

Kinja'd!!!0

A few reasons actually.

The test is invalid if I:

-Cant see the lines on the road

-Cant see street signs

-Cant see warning lights

Also Its an automatic fail if the car slides, which is a near certainty in these conditions

Was going to say an A4 Avant, If I recall correctly the reason for no German cars is kinda strange.

Still doesn't show if the driver can drive in the snow or not. They can drive in it test or not, provided their parents let them.

Ya I dont like it, it may change if I can convince my mom that If she's making me pay for insurance, registration, gas and the car then she cant have a say. As a counter point I plan on saying, "well if you really dont wanna have me get a german car, then pay for some of the expenses" That way I can either get a german car (which I want) or I get a financial break on the car purchase. But Thats gonna be some serious convincing

I drove home today, I can drive well (watch the video) But there is no way anybody, student or not can drive within the parameters of the test in that weather.

If reliability is a problem, the B5 A4 with the V6 is super reliable, cheap to buy and cheap to insure. They're all around great cars. Extra points for Avant.

I guess I didn't think of other tests being harder than Alabama's, which could be done blindfolded.

I am actually very confident behind the wheel, I trust myself as a driver. I doubt I'd be that nervous, but I wont know until my test.

Its not reliablity its my mom not wanting any german car because of WWII. Its irrational and accomplishes nothing.

Ours is the same color! Yours is essentially a newer version of ours. Do you have cloth seats, motorized sliding doors and a built in nav?

Leather seats, motorized doors (but not tailgate), and no nav. The Odyssey is really the best minivan, regardless of generation. The engine sounds so nice. Much better than any minivan should sound! They look just like a minivan should too. It's not trying to be something it's not (the current generation is on the boarder). I'm quite fond of it. I never thought I would say that about a minivan.

That really sucks.

It also kinda shows the flaws in the North American model of driver training/testing, making it far easier to obtain a license than it maybe should be. It's not illegal for a new driver to drive in that weather, yet it's unfair/illegal to test a new driver's ability to do so?

I took my test in not dissimilar weather, although maybe not quite so sloppy. At the beginning of the test, the examiner said that while it may not seem fair, he preferred testing in poor conditions because it put greater emphasis on a driver's ability to control a vehicle, and not just so much on adherence to traffic laws and good safety practices. In the notes space on my exam sheet, usually reserved for explaining failures, he said he was impressed with my ability to drive normally while still safely accommodating for the loss in traction, or something like that. I'm still not entirely sure what he meant by it, but he seemed to have marked me less harshly than some of the other people I talked who had him.

You're probably right. I know I'm a good driver and I know I'm responsible behind the wheel. I'm confident in my instincts. But i test like crap. Because I don't test well even with my skill set I would not pass if the test were more difficult. While I agree for other people that might be better (I even know if you people that fit that description), it would be detrimental to me. In school I always got really good grades on assignments but just bombed on tests. I got a 15 on my ACT, but maintained a 3.4 GPA. So I'm glad the test is easy, I work hard to be a good driver but I would probably fail the test should be more difficult. I wish more people would do what I did to be a better driver.
